Laser removal of red veins
If you have red or bluish veins on your face, calves, thighs or elsewhere, you probably suffer from an insufficient supply of blood to the skin. If you are plaguj with this cosmetic problem, you can have the spider veins removed by laser.
The technique of spider vein treatment
Abnormal veins are removed by a vascular laser (Aura KTP Laser). The laser beam is precisely targeted at the required spot where is reacts with hemoglobin and the reacting heat causes the blood vessel to coagulate and then removes the undesirable veins up to the width of 4 mm. The vessels that are destroyed by the heat are then absorbed into the body. Thanks to the precise targeting of the beam, the adjacent tissue is not affected. The laser instrument sof new generation are equipped with so-called dynamic cooling of skin which prevents plaques and other skin injuries.
Preparing for laser spider vein treatment
It is necessary to consult the process of the treatment with the surgeon before the procedure. The surgeon may also test the efficiency of the laser method on a small sport of skin during the session. It will help him/her to estimate the resulting effect of the procedure and you will avoid spending useless money.
The procedure
The procedure itself lasts from several seconds to thirty minutes, depending on the extent of the treatment. In case of more extensive veins symptoms, such as hemangiomas, varicose veins on legs or port-wine stain, it is necessary to repeat the procedure several times.
Anesthesia
Anesthesia is mostly not necessary. The treatment feels like a series of hot needle-like sensations. Anesthetic ointment is used only in case of extensive procedures. If you are more sensitive to pain, the anesthetic ointment can be applied on your demand.
What is the result of laser spider vein treatment?
The effect of the treatment may be assesed in 3 to 4 weeks after the procedure. The healing process always depends on the extent of the procedure, on the energy applied and on individual dispositions. You may experience mild redness and swelling, but may return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Moisturizer with sunscreen is recommended for a week after treatment. For larger lesions like cherry angiomas, the lesion may turn purplish in color after the procedure, and then disappear in 1-2 weeks. It may happen that the procedure will have to be repeated once or more times, if the results are not satisfactory.
